Quality Assurance

The quality policy of the Programme is aligned with the quality policy of the University of Western Macedonia and aims to deliver teaching and research work of high quality. It rests on the following components.

Education and teaching

The improvement and development of educational work is continuous and takes into account:

The achievement of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.
The analysis of the results of course evaluation by students and their discussion in the Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA) and in the Coordinating Committee, so that students’ views are taken into account both for the Programme as a whole and for more specific teaching matters.
Strengthening students’ participation in mobility programmes, within the framework of teaching or of the internship.
The incorporation of modern methods and new technologies into teaching.
The promotion of an award of excellence for the student with the highest grade, with a possible partial exemption from tuition fees.

Teaching staff

The Programme relies on teaching staff who possess not merely the necessary formal qualifications, but also strong specialisation in the subject they teach, both theoretical and practical, deriving also from their professional experience. Emphasis is placed on keeping abreast of developments in the subject and on properly guiding students in their assignments.

Scientific and research work

A priority of the Programme is to link teaching with research, through:

The participation of students in the research process: collection and analysis of data, questionnaires, and the writing of scientific papers and articles. A dedicated research methodology course is provided for this purpose.
The dissemination and presentation of research results during the educational process, with encouragement of presentations at conferences and of publications in journals, as well as provision for a conference day devoted to research results.

Links with the labour market

The Programme aims to link the qualifications of its graduates with the labour market, through the advisory committee composed of professionals from the financial, business and insurance sectors, the monitoring of developments which may also lead to revisions of the curriculum, cooperation with professional, productive, social and cultural bodies, and the creation of an alumni network.

Support services

The Programme makes use of the infrastructure offered by the University for synchronous and asynchronous education, with facilities for students both in terms of teaching and in terms of secretarial support. Continuous improvement, based on technological development and on the observations of students and teaching staff, is a fundamental policy.

Evaluation and complaints

On completion of each course, students evaluate it by means of an electronic questionnaire of the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the University of Western Macedonia. For complaints and appeals, the procedure of the Institution applies, as described on the Studies page.
