Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student will acquire knowledge and skills allowing

  • An understanding of the organisation and operation of insurance
  • An understanding of the differences between private and social insurance
  • An understanding of the new legislative framework concerning insurance intermediation
  • An understanding of the prevention of fraud and money laundering through insurance

  • Organisation and operation of alternative insurance systems
  • Modern systems of social and private insurance
  • Elements of the modernisation of the institutional framework for the organisation and operation of private insurance
  • Directives on solvency: Solvency I, Solvency II
  • Effects of the legislative framework on insurance intermediation
  • Code of conduct and rules of behaviour for insurance intermediaries
  • Complaints
  • Prevention of insurance fraud and of the laundering of proceeds from criminal activities

Assessment

Assessment is carried out in two ways: the preparation of assignments, counting for up to 30% of the total mark — the structure and presentation of the text, the quality of the analysis and the bibliographical references are taken into account above all — and a written final examination, counting for 70%. Language of assessment: Greek.
