Learning outcomes

  • In the Financial Accounting course, the basic principles governing the Greek Accounting Standards are analysed in comparison with the International Accounting Standards, with the aim that students deepen their knowledge, both at a theoretical and at a practical level, of the accounting cycle and of the rules governing the science of accounting
  • Specific accounting topics are also analysed in the form of case studies, and answers are given to matters that concern businesses
  • On completion of the lectures, the postgraduate student is able to understand in depth specific accounting topics, at both a theoretical and a practical level
  • In addition, an analysis is made of the Centralised System, Branch Accounting, depreciation and the accounting procedure for closing the books, and the principles for drawing up balance sheets are also taught, both in accordance with the Greek Accounting Standards and on the basis of the International Accounting Standards

Assessment

Assessment is carried out in three ways: an individual assignment (30% of the mark) on a predetermined topic, concerning the analysis and evaluation of undertakings from an accounting and financial point of view; a presentation of the individual assignment (10%) during the final lectures, lasting ten minutes, assessed on completeness, structure and presentation skills; and a written final examination (60%) with multiple-choice questions, true or false questions, questions of judgement, the solving of problems on accounting topics and the comparative assessment of points of theory. The examination is conducted through an electronic platform (Zoom and e-class), with questions selected at random from a question bank. Language of assessment: Greek.
